The largest island in the Mediterranean boasts a dry, warm climate perfect for growing grapes, and this is evident in the fruity, medium-bodied red wines made from Nero d’Avola, and the juicy, peachy white wines produced from Grillo. These refreshing wines, which are most prolific from the Sicilia DOC, are just the beginning of Sicily’s diverse wine scene. Further south, Cerasuolo di Vittoria DOCG offers a unique blend of Nero d’Avola and Frappato, while the Etna DOC produces sought-after wines from the red grape Nerello Mascalese and the white grape Carricante.
