The nose is youthful and herbal with the chocolate malt really noticeable. Lightly coastal with raw cereal, rose Turkish delight, bourbon butter and a touch of feints, but thankfully not too much. With time some nascent tropical fruit, heather and very subtle sherried dried fruit.
The palate is herbal and spicy with again, the chocolate malt being noticeable. Like the nose there is a touch of the feints, along with youthful/ raw cereal, rose petal, salt, and a little more oak character than the nose suggests, both American and sherry. Tight tannin, toasted raisin, ginger and chocolate mid palate leads into a masked, malty cereal finish with sweeter oak, spice and salt.
Water makes the nose aromatic and slightly perfumed. It shows more saltiness, more citrus and American oak. The palate displays more barley and fleshy fruit, giving it a fuller feel. There is also more salt and American oak with herbal Oloroso and menthol in the after-taste. A distinctly unique bottling of Torabhaig.
