Infrequent Flyers Loch Lomond (Inchfad) 2016 (9 year old) 58.4%
Tasting Note
Virgin oak barrel Finish
Cask 185
Dist: 2016 Btl: 2025
Tasted: Mar 2026
Astringent Islay-esque peat, ash and plenty of Lomond funk! High toned rose Turkish delight, barley and toasty, grippy almost French oak. A little dry vanilla and wood char with time. The oak really dominates with time.
The palate is grippy, oaky and awash with vanilla. However, the Lomnd funk and earthy peat powers through along with a touch of liquorice, tar and Islay-esque peat notes. And did I mention the alcohol.! Masked, intensely earthy, funky, grippy, toasty finish! Wow it’s a hell of a ride! Oak returns in the after-taste.
Diluted the nose is slightly earthier, a little less oaky and a little more rounded. Still peaty and funky though! The palate is softer and shows more milky Virgin oak and less wild, funky spirit Longer, still grippy and tannic with the oak bittering at the death.
