Aromas of cod liver oil, salt, malt, barley, dunnage floors and a touch of feints. I can detect what appears to be some rose petal Hazelburn character and overall, it’s clean and un-funky, bar the slight youthful feintiness.
The palate is fresh and citric with cod liver oil, earth, dry barley and vanilla. Again, very clean and un-funky with a touch of summer flowers and honey. Masked, lightly oiled finish with sweet barley, coconut, almond and again the Hazelburn rose petal note.
Diluted the nose becomes very citric and very barley’d. Subtle fish oils, honey and grist. The palate displays a little more honey with a subtle Campbeltown maltiness. Lovely depth and weight with a dunnage and dry coffee’d finish.
