Tasting Note
Producer Chez Richon
Lot: 17044
Dist: 1987 Btl: 2017
Tasted: Nov 2020
A dense and woody nose with plenty of mature, oxidised apple, fig, walnut, cedar and pepper. Wonderfully aromatic with an almost tropical edge. Late cherry blossom, ginger, roasted almonds and walnut.
The palate is taught and oaky to begin with plenty of grippy French oak tannins but balanced by silky oxidised apple, apricot and pear. Hints of walnut, cinnamon and delicate floral notes follow. long and gentle with macerated orange, apricot, pepper, minerals and walnut. A little drying on the after-taste but still very impressive.
