Tasting Note

The original tasting note has disappeared, so I had to re-taste it! What a hardship!

Barrel 5789
Btl: Mar 2022
Re-Tasted: Apr 2026
An incredibly complex nose. Soft, off-sweet corn, apricot, orange marmalade, toffee vanilla and subtle but noticeable spicy/bitter rye. It continues to show notes of dark chocolate, wood char, sub-tropical fruit, dark berries and with time some earth. Creamy toffee and shredded wheat.

The palate opens with the crisp rye in the ascendancy delivering dark spice, dark chocolate, earth, herbal rye and astringent/ bitter spices. Underneath sits toffee’s oak, cream, off-sweet corn, corn oil, burnt marzipan, wood char, green pepper and lightly oxidised fruit. Very long with bitter green rye spice, subtle toffee and a little almond cream. In conclusion: It’s stunning!
