Having purchased La Raia in 2003, Girogio Rossi Cairo immediately set out to restore and enhance the indigenous ecosystem. A firm advocate of biodynamics, he began cultivating the vineyards following these practices and the estate has been Demeter certified since 2007 and is now producing some of the most exceptional and exciting wines of the region.
The Pise, comes from the oldest vines of 70 years, grown on the south-west facing slopes of the La Cascinetta vineyard, which is situated 400 m above sea level. This fabulously complex and savoury wine develops beautifully in the glass and like the Riserva, is best decanted. This is amazing, with fabulous complexity, combining the same floral aromas as before, with subtle honeyed, pear fruits, hints of almond and a saline minerality.
