Based in the small hamlet of Cheminas, high up in the Hills of Saint Joseph just south of Condrieu, Sylvain Gauthier is creating lovingly crafted and elegant varietal reds and whites from 100% Syrah and Roussanne.
Having trained and studied at Domaine du Tunnel and Chapoutier, Sylvain started Pierres Seches back in 2007, when he bought around 5 hectares of vineyards, on the beautiful hillside of Saint Jean Du Muzol.
Working completely organically and harvesting by hand, the passion Sylvain has for his terroir and vineyards is clear, and his masterfully crafted wines are already commanding respect throughout the wine world, even though he has not been around as long as most of his contemporaries.
