The nose is very oaky, which isn’t a surprise given it’s very dark colour. Chunky bourbon, vanilla come through strongly but beneath is some trademark waxy fruit. It’s definitely a crowd pleasing nose, quite sweet and juicy with some late white fruit, lemon, peanut, walnut shell and white liquorice.
The palate is oily, chunky and malty. The oak is a bit better behaved on the palate and allows the waxy apricot, apple and melon to show. Vanilla, wood spice and white liquorice middle. Masked, citric and herbal finish with lingering oak notes.
Water makes the oak quite aromatic on both the nose and palate. It also brings out a touch more citrus.
