2nd fill Sherry Hogshead 9044/2007
Dist: Jun 2007 Btl: Apr 2026
Tasted: May 2026
A nose of gritty sultana, dried citrus peel and classic waxy/ bready notes. There’s more sherry than I expected given its light colour. With time a little herbal eaux-de-vie, mashed banana, grapefruit, toffee, white chocolate, cucumber, lime, green grape and celery. It takes a while to full open, but when it does, it’s really complex and expressive.

The palate opens with some chunky dried apricot, citrus peel, vanilla and some wonderfully soft bready distillery character. Hints of green grape, green apple and lightly bittering wood spice. Subtle, pleasantly integrated sherry notes and a crisp, citrus, apricot and tangy spice finish with a little pepper and oxidised fruit in the after-taste. I’d buy it for the nose alone!
