Tasting Note
Lightly Peated
Tasted: Jul 2024
The nose is fresh and crisp with lemon and bubblegummy white fruit, straw and earth. Subtly peated with late vanilla, butter cream and pepper. Initially the nose feels a little lean, but it needs time in the glass for the estery fruit notes to develop.
The palate is also fresh and citric with plenty of lemon, barley and again, bubblegummy white fruit. The alcohol is definitely emphasising the spices, and the oak does grip a little on the middle. Good length with some creamy vanilla and lingering juicy white fruit.
Water really brings out the lemon and gives it a sort of sherberty edge. Not as estery and a little more peach and apricot, also the oak is lessened. However, the palate shows a lot more oak, buttery vanilla and subtler barley, citrus and white fruit. Good length with a lemon sorbet finish.
