Weinrieder 2016 Riesling Eiswein (37.5cl)
Tasting Note
This is Wienrieder’s multi-award-winning flagship Eiswein. The grapes are harvested at temperatures of -7 or below to ensure the grapes are sufficiently frozen upon arrival in the winery. Very rich in style, this is a gorgeous and intense sweet wine, almost Sauternes like in consistency and sweetness. The nose sings with candied orange peel, dried apricot, zesty lemon, mango and pineapple, along with acacia and hints of caramel. The palate delivers on the promises of the nose, it’s creamy and elegant with an abundance of sweet fresh fruit, honey and a touch of mature Riesling petrol character. This is accompanied by mouth-wateringly tart acidity, wet stone minerality and a superbly long and pure finish. This is a gorgeous and profoundly complex sweet wine. Coming in at a whopping 237g/l of residual sugar.
