Vilmart NV Premier Cru Champagne ‘Grande Reserve’ Magnums (150cl)
Tasting Note
Laurent’s entry level Champagne is the only one dominated by Pinot Noir (70% PN, 30% Chardonnay). It is overtly fruity but fresh and quite delicious. Vilmart’s class shines through. It has a fabulously refined and elegant nose redolent of citrus fruits, especially oranges, alongside more developed aromas of honeyed cashew nuts as well as creamy and subtly smoky nuances. A great palate follows, with a fine mousse, ever so slightly creamy, fresh and crisply structured, with delicious redcurrant, apple and lemon fruits shining through. It has a lovely and elegant flavour laid over a good structure, is fine and shows quite a seamless presence in the mouth. The finish is long, bursting with brightness, ringing clarity, mouth-watering salinity, and cheek-pinching piquancy. A great introduction to Laurent’s range, and just an all-round stunning Champagne.
