The Heart Cut #14 Starward 2019 (5 year old) 55%
Tasting Note
First Fill American Oak Red Wine Barrique
Dist: Jun 2019 Btl: Aug 2024
Tasted: May 2025
Aromas of raspberry and redcurrant jelly with youthful cereal, malt, milk chocolate and spicy tannins. With time the toasty and creamy American oak vanillins appear along with a touch of tannin. With time straw, barley and a little fleshy apricot.
The palate is full and robust leading off with raspberry and redcurrant/ berry fruit. Toasty oak, chocolate and malt come through and it gets a little perfumed on the middle, but the intensity is fabulous. Masked with lingering berry fruit and subtle Barossa menthol.
Water pushes back the oak on the nose, and it shows more barley. Lighter red fruit, pomegranate and subtle lime. The palate is also better balanced as it shows more barley, malt and citrus. Long, raspberry cooley and vanilla biscuit finish.
