Tasting Note

A blend of 40% malt/ 60% Grain married for 3 years in ex-Symington Port casks

Tasted: Jul 2024

The nose displays some obvious maturity and plenty of sawdusty American oak, along with oxidised and autumnal baked fruit, dried citrus peel and a good dollop of almost medicinal peat and tar. I’m pretty certain that I can detect some Campbelltown fishiness as well. The port is very subtle and adds just a smidge of black fruit.

The palate opens with some dark, baked autumnal fruit and a subtle Cognac-esque oxidative note. Deep and elegant with hints of dusty peat, violets, sawdust, dried apple, apricot and hints of wood smoke and wood spice. Long with the porty fruit now coming through on the finish with a little lingering spice.
