The nose is quite sherry influenced to begin with, plenty of raisin, sultana and dried citrus. However, the mature-ish American oak comes though along with vanilla and grilled nuts. Finally, a little dusty barley, macerated apricot and nippy spice appears.
The palate also opens with the sherried dried fruit before the American oak moves in. Very citric middle clears the oak and allows a little barley, minerals and coffee’d spice to show. Good length with lingering barley and finally the sherry returning in the after-taste.
