Saint Jean du Barroux 2016 Ventoux Rouge ‘La Source’
Tasting Note
A stunning Ventoux cuvée from Phillipe Gimel, bearing in mind this is the introductory wine to his range, this drinks way above its price point! A blend of Grenache, Carignan and Cinsault, completely destemmed and with a short maceration to preserve its freshness and fruit, this one sings with rich dark cherry, blackberry, pepper, black liquorice and kirsch liqueur. There is a welcome rocky minerality, notes of garrigue and spice with helps balance and add complexity. These is a medium-bodied, elegant, classy wine that has real depth of fruit, fine tannin and a great finish.
