Nikka From The Barrel Extra Marriage 51.4% 50cl
Tasting Note
Malt and grain components have been aged for an average of 10 years in a variety of cask types, blended, then married for 3-6 month in barrel.
Tasted: Nov 2025
The nose is a lot less sherry influenced than the standard bottling, thus it shows a beautiful depth of elegant, juicy apricot, pineapple, vanilla, honey and hints of smoke and spice. The American oak displays some sawdusty maturity and with time a touch of ginger, nutmeg, starchy rise and sherried dried fruit appears.
The palate opens with a bit more peat smoke and astringent Yoichi coastal notes. Honeyed white fruit follows along with lemon, vanilla, sawdusty oak and a touch of sherried dried fruit. Long, barley, roasted nuts, salt, peat, ginger, cocoa powder, dried plum and raisin finish.
