Mestres Cava Gran Reserva Premium ‘L’Assemblatge 2013, 2014, 2016’

Tasting Note

A new non-vintage blend of three years, going back to the tradition of creativity and freedom, the NV L’Assemblatge de Mestres 2013-2014-2016 Brut Nature Gran Reserva was produced with a majority of wine from 2016 (but not enough to declare it as vintage) in search of balance and a way to fight climate change. It comes from their own vineyards and is a blend of the three grapes similar to the base for Clos Damiana, fermented and matured in barrel for 12 months and put to referment in bottle for 96 months (eight years!). To me, it has the best of both worlds, the complexity and signature of the long aging with a fresher and younger side, keeping a moderate 12%alcohol and very good freshness. It’s subtle and elegant, with a velvety texture, very small bubbles and great acidity. Approachable and with potential to age more. 2,300 bottles produced. I tasted a very recently disgorged bottle, from March2024.
