Orchard & Oak is a bright, fruit-forward single malt and a proud new addition to Lochlea’s core range. Matured in a combination of first-fill Bourbon, Virgin American Oak, and Calvados casks.
Tasted: Sept 2025
The nose opens with the Lochea signature slightly estery/ bubblegummy white fruit, Viognier-esque peach, pear and apple. Sweet vanilla and corn appear along with some barley husks, supple baked apple and with time a little pot pourri petal, grass, citrus and wood smoke.
The palate opens with sweet vanilla, barley and estery fruit. Cereal, lime, grass, baked apple, lemon and a little oily spirit follow. Lovely intensity with a long, chewy, fruity finish. Lingering straw, apple, apricot and peach. In conclusion: A lovely bottling with a subtle Calvados influence.
