Tasting Note

First Fill Bourbon Barrel 2217
Dist: Oct 2013 Btl: Jul 2026
Tasted: Sept 2026
Vibrant and floral with barley, apricot, white peach, creamy but integrated oak, salt, malt and citrus. Lightly oiled with a sprinkling of castor sugar and shimmering coastal notes. It has a delightful freshness and with time some subtle peat.

The palate is vibrant and youthful with citrus, rose petal but plenty of barley and balancing oak. Lemon, lime, lemon verbena, marzipan and subtle peat notes on the middle. The alcohol enhances the coastal saltiness. Masked, grippy, slightly tannic finish with lingering citrus, barley and vanilla.

Water makes the nose a little oilier but it’s still quite citric. Denser and maltier with fragrant heather and peat. The palate mirrors the nose dense and oily with a little more oak, but it’s still vibrant and citric. Long, youthful, grippy, dry, tannic finish with some dry barley husks on the after-taste.
