Lady of the Glen ‘Samhain Series: The Eighth Part Measure of a Garle’ Laphroaig 2018 (7 year old) 58.6%

Tasting Note

Refill Bourbon Barrel 66
Dist: Nov 2018 Btl: Jul 2026
Tasted: Sept 2026
A dense, medicinal nose with iodine, maure, herbal peat, smoked sausage, bbq meat and astringent coastal notes. Very malty but fresh and citric with late barley and milky vanilla. Unmistakably Laphroaig with the meatiness intensifying.

The palate opens with the creamy vanilla oak and barley. Like the nose it is rich and meaty with that lovely bbq character. Quite herbal with notes of sweet apricot, green pepper corn, iodine and seaweed. Quite masked, herbal peat, medicinal herbs, iodine, tar and sweet pepper in the finish. OMG this is a stunning young Laphroaig!

Water makes very little change to the nose. A little maltier perhaps? The palate is sweeter and fleshier with a touch more oak, but it still has plenty of herbal and medicinal character.
