Description
Bourbon Barrel 116
Dist: 2019 Btl: 2026
Tasted: May 2026
A textbook Lindores nose of estery, juicy apricot, apple, white peach and fragrant, gristy barley. Hints of lemon verbena, lemon juice, vanilla and a touch of rose petal appear. Although it has a high abv, the alcohol is very well contained, although it is noticeable. Late dry cereal and honey.
The palate is a little tight with the alcohol definitely noticeable from the word go. Fleshy barley, white fruit, apricot and alcohol enhanced spices on the middle. Masked, youthful spirit (but not raw) with a little Turkish delight, dry spice and cereal on the finish.
Water emphasises the dry cereal and lessens the estery fruit character. There is also a touch more oak, adding vanilla custard notes. The palate is softer, less alcoholic! Thus, it shows more honey, and a dry oatiness. Subtle white fruit, apricot and citrus. Long, robust finish, still showing dry cereal.
