Aromas of bonfire smoke and sweet malt mixed with some lightly astringent peat, green/ under ripe fruit, menthol, fish oils, earth, tobacco, burnt wood and a little sherried dried fruit. Over time the fishiness intensifies, and a little iodine and Campbeltown funk appears.
The palate opens with sweet malt and balsamic coated dark fruit. Some subtle Longrow-esque style peat, earth and sweet sherry notes follow along with herbal peat and bitter tannins on the middle. Intense, masked and very bitter finish with lingering green pepper, fish, liquorice and more bitter oak.
Water emphasises the green pepper and makes it feel a little Staoisha-like. Fresher, more salt and citrus. Still showing plenty of peat. The palate is smokier, richer and meatier with darker peat notes and some balsamic dark fruit. Woody, tannic, dry peat finish with a chewy malt after-taste.
