The nose displays plenty of Campbeltown funk and earthy/ fishy peat. Dark malt, rye bread, shaving foam, macerated dark fruit, sweet plum, apricot and raisin appear.
Full and malty on the palate with macerated apricot and subtler dark fruits. Less funk than the nose suggests and showing a touch more sherry character and spice. Masked, intense, woody, very spicy and earthy finish with lingering gritty peat, fish and a little vanilla.
Water emphasises the rich apricot and apple. Less funky, dark and less peated now with a touch more youthful cereal. The palate is also less dark, peated and spicy. A little drying on the middle and finish with lingering malt, cereal, coffee, earth and peat grit!
