James Eadie The Distilleries of Great Britian & Ireland Linkwood 2011 (14 year old) 52.4%
Tasting Note
2 Re-charred Hogsheads
Dist: 2011 Btl: 2025
Tasted: Nov 2025
Aromas of slightly gristy barley and fresh wood char. Sweet vanilla, sweet apricot, sweet spice and hints of camomile, toffee, marzipan and lightly oiled spirit.
The palate displays plenty of grippy oak, vanilla, toffee cram and hints of apricot and barley. Yes, it’s a but heavy on the oak but it has a lovely mouth-feel and succulent frutiness. A little masked and grippy finish with earth, sweet and bitter tannin and a little bbq sauce on the after-taste.
Water releases the fragrant Linkwood character from the oak shackles! Fleshy, fresh and summery. The palate is the same. Juicy, succulent and mouth-filling. Long, slightly woody finish with the sweet and bitter tannins jostling.
