Tasting Note

2 x 1st Fill Bourbon Barrels
Dist: 2012 Btl: 2026
Tasted: Jun 2026
The nose opens with an abundance of creamy American oak, corn oil, barley and subtle hard barley notes. With time a little Speyside green fruit, chalk, oak char, white fruit and oily apricot.

The palate also kicks off with the oak. Toffee and vanilla ice cream! Hints of barley, but it’s very, very, very oaky. Masked, astringent green fruit and hard barley on the finish with returning toffee.

Water sweetens the nose and brings out juicy citrus…. Yes, really… Dufftown! Juicy fruit! Quite a dramatic change. The green fruit intensity has lessened by in its place is white fruit, apricot and pineapple. Yes, really! The palate is also juicy and citric. A lot less oak influenced but still showing a bit of creamy vanilla. Like the nose it is really quite fruity and clean with a subtle barley, pepper and spice finish. A little hard barley note in the after-taste.
