MGP Straight Bourbon 75% Corn, 21% Rye, 4% Malted Barley
HWD (Pot Still) 80% Rye, 20% Malted Rye
Undisclosed Blended (peated) Scotch Malt
Tasted: Jul 2025
The nose is initially rather reserved but given time it shows plenty of dusty peat and medicinal peat to begin with. Subtle Pot Still Rye appears along with some subtle Column Still high toned rye. Hints of burnt wood, corn, violets, ginger and Brandy butter follow.
The palate opens with Bourbon corn and toffee with hints of ginger and burnt wood. The peat is subtler but still slightly medicinal. More maple syrup and citrus on the middle which freshens. Long, drier rye spice finish with lingering violets, burnt wood, tobacco and a lovely bitter, dark chocolate fade.
