A nose of earthy barley with noticeable straw-like Umeshu notes followed by subtle plummy notes, peach, citrus, apple blossom, honey, vanilla and minerals.
The palate is dry with edgy barley, dried plum and vanilla. Gently spiced with straw, damp earth and a touch of apple blossom. Good intensity and balance with a pleasant plummy spiciness. Long, intense, mineral, citrus and earth finish with a lovely spicy flourish at the end. Subtle honey and vanilla after-taste.
Description
A blend of 5+year old malt whisky aged for a further 12 years in American oak, then finished for 6 months in ex-Umeshu (plum) Liqueur casks.
