Re-Tasted: Oct 2020
An immediate hit of pot still spice on the nose with plenty of rummy dried fruit. Subtle sherry and winey red fruits emerge along with a little vanilla custard. Although the red fruit notes become quite pronounced with time the balance is pretty impressive and buzzy spices keep the sweetness in check.
The palate is crisp and spicy with again a balancing dried winey red fruit and sherried dried fruit. It’s a serious spice fest on the middle, but the lightly oiled spirit notes and a touch of dusty tannin notes balance. Long and continuing spicy with lingering dried fruit and soft tannins.
