Tasting Note
Ruby Port Barrique Finish
Tasted May 2024
A lovely nose of dusty sweet peat and subtle ruby port red fruits. Hints of straw, syrup, menthol follow. If feels like the peat has been liberally coated in syrupy red fruit but the balance has definitely not been compromised. Late salt, coriander powder and chocolate.
The palate is full and earthy with dusty, sweet peat, red fruit, vanilla, rye spice, grilled nuts, menthol and a touch of almost rummy dried fruit. The ‘Bourbony’ oak and grippy tannic spices come through on the middle. Long, liquorice, peat briquettes, bog myrtle, spice and astringent coastal notes in the finish. A stunning whisky!
