Silky aromas of almost winey dried fruit, red and black fruit, raisin, sultana and earthy/ animally peat. It has an intense, natural rawness which is offset by the silky sherry. With time some chunky vanillins appear along with a touch of toffee and butter, indicating that it might have been an American oak sherry cask.
The palate opens with peanuts and dark sherried fruit. The peat, like on the nose is distinctly animally and a touch of bitter spice makes it quite wild. Balancing treacle, tar and pepper on the middle. Long, juicy, vanilla, black pepper and herbal Oloroso finish with nut kernel and spice after-taste.
