Filey Bay 10th Anniversary Special Release 49.9%

Tasting Note

A marriage of ex-Madeira and ex-Bourbon casks from our earliest days through to 2023. Including from Cask 001, filled 14th June 2016.
Tasted: Aug 2026
The nose has a lovely density and is showing some mature elements amongst the estery white fruit. Subtle biscuity/ winey Madeira with lime, lemon and light herbal notes. The American oak adds toffee cream and a delicate earthy spiciness. Lovely balance with the spices nipping.

The palate opens with the succulent Madeira fruit, toffee, dark-ish honey, lightly mature American oak, barley, estery white fruit and nippy, alcohol enhanced spices on the middle. Intense, mouth-watering, spicy, Madeira laced finish with a little tannin and plenty of tongue tingling spice.

Water makes very little change to the nose. Possibly enhances the Madeira notes. The palate is softer and rounder. Less spicy, but juicier, sweeter and longer. A little bitterness from the oak now in the finish.
