‘Patou’ is the name given to a petite vineyard plot nestled south of Cornas village. This pure Syrah embodies Cornas’s essence: richly hued, powerfully built, and profoundly gratifying.
Harvested by hand and fermented with whole clusters using native yeasts in tanks; the grapes are delicately foot-trodden. Matured for about a year in French oak barrels (typically more than six to seven years old). The wine is bottled without fining or filtration.
The 2022 Cornas Patou presents as ripe and dense, displaying timeless, traditional layers of red and black fruits, black cherries, liquorice, smoked meats, and earthiness. This robust, medium to full-bodied wine offers a concentrated palate, abounding in ripe, juicy tannins, exceptional balance, and a remarkably long finish.
