Domaine Saint Prefert 2009 Chateauneuf du Pape ‘Collection Charles Giraud’ (150cl)
Tasting Note
There are a number of red cuvees made at the estate but it was the selection Charles Giraud made from 60% Grenache and 40% old vine Mourvedre really stands out. Aged in three-year-old demi-muids after fermentation. The grapes are 100% destemmed. The 2006 is a fabulous wine, so complex and warming. Very deep in colour with scintillating aromas of cassis, kirsh and exotic spices. Slightly sauvage in character given its Mourvedre content. Long and rich on the finish. 10-15+ years. (JG)
