Corinna’s Delights from the Dentelles Mixed Case
Discover the Elegance of Domaine La Martinelle's 2022 Vintage
Tasting Notes
This mixed case in a three or six bottle format, containing either 1x or 2x each of the following wines:
With the ‘Les Dentelles’ Cuvée, Corinna has aimed to craft a wine that captures all of the warmth and charm of the Southern Rhône, whilst remaining slightly lighter, approachable and keeping the degree of alcohol to a reasonable level. She has most definitely suceeded!
A blend of 70% Mourvèdre, 20% Grenache and 10% Syrah from vines grown organically and planted on South-East facing terraces, on clay-limestone soils. This is a pure, elegant, refined, refreshing and eminently drinkable. Energetic and full of deliciously ripe and juicy black and red fruits, hint of garrigue and sweet spice, as well as a welcome levity and acidity.
It is an ideal wine to serve at lunch and whilst it will certainly partner more robust red meats, it also has the freshness and finesse to be enjoyed with white meats, poultry and even fish dishes.
2022 Vin de Pays Vaucluse Blanc
Mainly Clairette, with a little bit of Picardin, planted on clay-limestone soils, up on the hillsides of Barroux, behind the Dentelles de Montmirail.
This delicious wine, is a top quality Ventoux Blanc in all but name, coming from vineyards within the appellation which were declassified on a rather bizzare technicality. However, the wine truly speaks for itself, with an intensely floral and nutty nose with hints of apricot, white flowers, scrubby herbs, thyme and rosemary.
It is a dry white with a pleasant grip of acidity, and a lovely round palate that finds just the right balance between tension and freshness. The palate is rich and nutty just like the nose, accompanied by white peach and apricot fruit. It is also pleasantly herbal on the back, with those thyme and rosemary notes coming through. It has lovely depth with hints of minerals and grass joining the herbal notes in the finish.
Receiving 93/100 from the Wine Enthusiast. Corinna’s 2022 Ventoux Rouge is a beauty. A harmonious mesh of Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre, Cinsault and Carignan with lovely soft acidity and low to medium tannins. Sourced from high-altitude, limestone soils, it’s voluptuous but briskly balanced.
It’s fresh and juicy, with a luscious palate of pure and seductive redcurrant/ berry, a touch of blackcurrant, plum and spice. There is an attractive whisp of sweetness to the fruit due to the wonderful ripeness. It also has a very mineral accented middle, fine-tipped tannins and a long, juicy, subtly herbal finish, with hints of bramble dried mint and garrigue.
Corinna is not aiming for anything too big or that needs years of age to reveal itself, she is aiming for purity and finesse. This is a beautiful wine, with wonderfully fragrant bouquets, seamless elegance and a fruit-driven focus.
Description
We’re excited to announce the arrival of three exquisite wines from Domaine la Martinelle’s beautiful 2022 vintage, crafted by the tenacious and visionary winemaker, Corinna Faravel. Nestled in the historically cooperative-dominated hills of Ventoux, Corinna has once again demonstrated her ability to harness the untapped potential of this region, producing world-class wines that offer exceptional value for money.
Her winery is a hidden gem composed of small, almost forgotten vineyards on the steep slopes behind the Dentelles de Montmirail, showcases the unique terroir of its high-altitude Bramadou and Martinelle vineyards. The former, known for its Triassic rusty/orange soils, and the latter, a blend of limestone and clay, contribute to the distinct character of these wines.
Harvested by hand and crafted with minimal intervention, Corinna’s winemaking process respects the natural qualities of the grapes, using gravity to feed them into cement vats, avoiding the use of fancy technology in favour of instinct and experience. The result? Sumptuous, beautifully crafted wines that truly capture all of the warmth and charm of the Southern Rhône.
Join us in celebrating arrival of Martinelle’s 2022 vintage releases. Experience the dedication and passion of Corinna Faravel and once again discover why Ventoux, though less famous than its neighbours, is a region of incredible potential, now brought to light by a small group of exceptional winemakers.
