A deeper, richer and darker nose than the VSOP. Quite earthy with succulent, mature apricot and a touch of prune, dried fig and edgy Baco notes. With time a touch of tobacco emerges along with some fragrant, coffee’d spice, ginger, violets, loam and truffles.
The palate opens with the dark dried fruit – prune, fig, apple and hints of black coffee and spice. Again the Baco adds a subtle foxiness and hints of mature wood, tobacco, wood spice, ginger and earth come through. Lovely intensity and mouth-watering finish with subtle marzipan and drying wood spices in the finish.
