Cihuatan Xaman XO 40%

Tasting Note

A blend of light and heavy column still rums aged for 15 years in ex-Bourbon, finished for 12 months in Mayan Ceiba tree barrels. (The Mayan people have revered the Ceiba tree, or Ya’ axche, meaning “Green Tree† or “First Tree†. They believed it to be the tree of life which stood in the middle of the earth, uniting the terrestrial and spirit worlds.)
Tasted: Oct 2020
Like the Sahumerio it displays a lovely balance of light and heavy column still spirit. Dark honey, spicy, balsamic dried apple and apricot with hints of leather, clove, pepper, cocoa and roasted coffee bean. Subtle herbal pot pourri notes in the background.

A beautifully luscious palate with noticeable heavy rum dried fruit and hints of sweet coffee, cocoa, leather and sweet spices. It also displays a polished oak character and the finish is very long, juicy and spicy with a touch of almost mentholated herbs, herbal pot pourri and dried citrus. Lovely intensity and sweetness.
