Chateau du Pegau 2020 Côtes du Rhône Rouge ‘Maclura’
Tasting Note
This is a Charming and characterful Cotes du Rhone Rouge, from deep loamy soils mainly covered in Chateauneuf style round pebbles (Galets Roulés), which captures the essence of the garrigue. A blend of 60% Grenache, 25% Syrah, 10% Mourvèdre and 5% Cinsault, the 2019 Cotes du Rhone Cuvée Maclura is a dark-fruited wine loaded with pure blackcurrents and raspberries and backed up with notes of black pepper, black alives and expresso. Sturdy and savoury in character, it’s medium to full-bodied, admirably concentrated and intense, with an elegant and supple mouthfeel, and well-balanced juicy tannins. Clean and long on the finish. It’s in its prime for drinking right now and will go perfectly with grilled or roasted red meats and dried meats. Serve at around 17°C.
