Tasting Note
Re-Tasted: May 2019
The nose displays plenty of up front peat, a pleasant combination of aromatic, sweet and gritty peat! The nose is more complex than I originally gave it credit for with a good balance of American oak and sherry character. Hints of apricot, lemon, macerated orange, burnt driftwood and chocolate.
The palate opens with the dusty and aromatic peat smoke. It’s a little heavier on the sherry and thus shows less American oak than the nose. Chewy, malty and polished with a touch off coffee. Long, with lingering soot, sweet peat, violets, straw, heather and salt.
