Brave New Spirits Cask Noir Cameronbridge 12 year old ‘Take it to the Brig’ 57%
Tasting Note
First Fill Pedro Ximinez Hogshead
Dist: May 2010 Btl: Aug 2022
Tasted: Jul 2023
Aromas of black berries, dusty spice and lovely grainy dried fruit. Hints of earth, tar and coconut appear. There’s a lovely balance between the spirit and the cask. With time black coffee, peanut and a little grainy nip.
The nose opens with dusty spice and soft dried black fruit, followed by syrup and nippy grain. Hints of coconut, black coffee and tannin on the middle. Masked but nippy and spicy finish.
Diluted there’s a little more crisp grain showing and the winey fruit becomes more aromatic. The palate still shows the dusty winey fruit but it’s a little sweeter. The grainy dried fruit comes through on the middle. Long, juicy almost mineral finish with lingering nippy spices.
