Tasting Note
Bourbon/ Sherry
Btl: 2019
Tasted: Dec 2019
Slightly heavier on the sherry. Oilier and maltier with a biscuity edge. A lot less tropical fruit here and a lot more spice. The American oak is also more noticeable and has quite a toffee character. Slightly violety but the sherry is dominant in this batch.
The palate is denser, oilier and shows more sherried dried fruit, herbal spice and conversely less tropical fruit. Quite a tannic and coffee’d middle. Long dried fruit finish with the citrus injecting some lightness. Hints of white fruit and rose petal spirit character in the after-taste. It feels like a few more ‘active’ sherry butts have crept into the batch.
