Annandale Rascally Liquor ‘New Make Malt Spirit’ 63.5%

Tasting Note

Unpeated.
Tasted Jul 2022
Aromas of sweet barley, apricot, peach, honeysuckle and straw. Wonderfully clean with subtle lemon, lime and just a suggestion of ‘off the still’ notes.

The palate opens with barley and thick set honey. Again, there are hints of apricot, apple, peach and straw. Like the nose it is very clean with just a suggestion of ‘off the still’ notes. Quite dense and more in the Bladnoch style than the newer, estery Lowland types. Masked finish with lingering raw barley.

Diluted the nose is still sweet with a more pronounced floral character. Juicy and slightly herbal with some almost juniper-esque notes. The palate is soft and rounded, less honeyed with more of the raw barley noticeable. Lovely mouth-feel with some subtle floral notes on the middle. A little short with lingering barley and biscuity notes.
