The nose opens with the soft, aromatic and earthy peat with hints of citrus, barley and Turkish delight. Wonderfully fresh with a late pepper note.
The palate is also fresh and citric with earthy peat and hints of toffee, praline and herbal spice. Masked but very peppery finish with lingering earthy peat.
Diluted the nose is subtler and more smoky, but it has emphasised the slightly astringent citrus. Lovely purity. The palate is slightly oily and barley’d with ashy peat. Longer and still peppery. (tasting note from 2016 distilled bottling)
