This April, we’re really excited to be able to offer new vintages from Pazo de Señorans, one of the defining estates of Rías Baixas. It must be a good two decades since we first started importing these enticing wines and we know that they rapidly became firm favourites with all our regular followers. Indeed, there was a time when Pazo de Senorans was our fastest selling white wine for consecutive years, so we are sure that you will be as delighted as we are, to have the opportunity to see them back again.

The new releases seem even more appealing. The exceptional purity, focus and finesse of the 2024 Pazo is fabulous. Based in the Val do Salnés, the historic heart of the region, the winery has been instrumental in elevating Albariño from a local speciality to one of Spain’s most respected white wines.

Back in 1979 when Marisol Bueno and Javier Mareque purchased the estate, complete with kiwi orchards and old-vine Albariño vineyards, the appellation did not even exist, but the couple were quick to recognise the huge potential of the Albariño grape, aligned with the region’s granitic, sandy soils and cool, coastal Atlantic climate, to create a wine of breathtakingly fresh acidity, minerality and clearly-defined ripe citrus and stone fruits.

The estate quickly became a benchmark for quality, demonstrating that Albariño could produce wines of both precision and freshness and longevity – an idea that challenged the prevailing belief that the grape was only suited to youthful, early-drinking styles.

Pazo de Señorans has since become synonymous with a more serious and age worthy expression of Albariño. Their pioneering work with extended lees ageing helped redefine the category, proving that the wines could gain texture, depth and complexity over many years.

Today, the estate remains one of the leading producers in the region, widely regarded as a reference point for both traditional and progressive Albariño. These three stunning wines clearly demonstrate the wonderful breadth, depth and diversity of the region’s most iconic grape varietal when in the hands of one of its most legendary producers.

2024 Pazo Señorans Rías Baixas Albariño
Fermented in stainless steel and aged on the lees for 4 months, the 2024 Albariño is vibrant, expressive and beautifully fresh, with flavours of ripe citrus, white peach, fennel, jasmine and saline minerality. With a pristine purity, perfect balance of tantalizing, ripe, aromatic fruit and refreshingly clean acidity, this is the perfect wine to enjoy over the summer and throughout the year.

2022 Pazo Señorans Rías Baixas Albariño Collección
Fermented in stainless steel and aged 5 months on the lees and 30 months in bottle prior to release, the Colleción shows a really impressive depth and texture with flavours of grapefruit, apple, honeysuckle and fennel, vibrantly fresh acidity and granitic minerality. The time spent on the lees lends a creamier weight to the wine with just a hint of spice and white pepper.

2015 Pazo Señorans Rías Baixas Albariño Seleccíon de Añada
From 45-year-old vines grown on the granite-rich soils of the Los Bancales vineyards, the Seleccíon de Añada is aged in small stainless-steel tanks, on the lees, for 36 months, giving a wine of incredible depth, structure and complexity. Flavours of honeyed stone fruit, beeswax and toasted almonds combine with fresher citrus nuances and salty minerality.
