Domaine Albert Boxler 2020 Pinot Noir

Tasting Note

We all know that Boxler needs no introduction. His reputation precedes him, and his white wines are widely regarded amongst the finest on the planet. However, one would also be doing themselves a great disservice if they were to overlook Jean’s absolutely delicious Pinot Noir Cuvées. Hyperbole seems to follow Jean Boxler where ever he goes, however it would not be an exaggeration to say that his Pinots are also amongst the finest we have ever tasted from the appellation. His 2017 straight Pinot Noir is deliriously deep, juicy, wonderfully fresh, mineral, vibrant and above all elegant. The redcurrant, raspberries and strawberries found on the palate are astonishingly ripe, pure and lively. This is a persistent and generous wine, that has the perfect mix of ripe fruit, silky tannins and a fresh tension filled structure. The mineral grip is really what holds the whole package together, and it results in a long, deep and vibrant finish. Perfect for drinking alongside roasted white meats.
