A very creamy nose with plenty of fleshy apple and sweet American oak. Estery fruit, barley and a touch of wood tannin/ spice follow. Late green apple jelly and lime.
The palate also opens with the creamy and sweet American oak. Heather, apricot, fleshy apple and green apple follow. Hints of barley, toffee on the middle. Long, very spicy and nippy finish with soft, sweet tannin, crème caramel, lime and sweet apple.
Water makes very little difference to the nose. A little less tannin perhaps? The palate is less spicy and less intense. Showing more toffee’d oak and barley and less Calvados. The oak bitters a little in the after-taste.
