There is a definite alcohol prickle but plenty of crisp juniper and smoke. Subtly earthy with hints of coriander, liquorice root, peppercorn, lemon and some sweet orange.
The palate is full and oily with sweet orange up first, followed by juniper and subtle smoke, peppercorn, coriander and hints of earth. Long, smoky, earthy, juniper accented finish. Lovely intensity and balance.
Water makes the nose oilier and fuller. It’s also a little sweeter as the orange is more prominent along with come creamy, almost flesh fruit. A little less junipery now with a slight herbal astringency. There isn’t much change to the palate, maybe there is a little more spiciness. Tonic emphasises the orange.
