Domaine Giraud 2019 Chateauneuf-du-Pape ‘Gallimardes’

Tasting Note

90% Grenache from 100 year old vines and 10% Syrah. The Grenache is aged for 18 months in cement vats. Deep blood-red colour. Elegant on the nose, but with real intensity and concentration of fruit, with strawberry, blueberry and raspberry fruit. Powerful on the palate, it’s full-bodied and complex yet smooth with flavours of apple & cherry compote, raspberry tinged with liquorice, white pepper and wild herbs. Much more serious structure here than the tradition. Real complexity, great length and a real vin de terroir. It can be enjoyed young from 3 to 4 years, with 20-25 years’ ageing potential.
